I hope you’ve all enjoyed your first couple of weeks at university! Our Society Fair was a huge success and we’re all very excited to have signed up so many of you in one day.

For anyone that could not make it, or are still not sure whether to sign up then please attend our Meet & Greet event on Wednesday, October 5th at the Learning Centre LG32 from 14:00 – 16:00 . I’ll be giving a brief introduction to our committee and what you can expect from the investment society along with any helpful resources. You will be able to meet other members and ask our committee questions if you have any.

The new term’s just round the corner and I’m extremely excited. To start things off, the Investment Society is now being sponsored by Ernst and Young, RBS and Barclays Wealth! RBS will be hosting an event on the 2nd of November, 2011 which includes an interesting game to test your skills that are required in Operations and Technology divisions. Barclays Wealth will be coming in on the 12th of October to talk about a career in Private Banking. Further events such as a skills/application workshop will also be coming soon, so put that date in your diaries and make sure you’re there.

On top of that we have also secured events with: Citibank, Amplify Trading, UBS, Savi Trading, Barclays Wealth and the Bright Network. If you’d like more information on the events, please go to our events page linked in our header.



We are also going to be sponsoring and attending the Financial Forum on October the 22nd, an exciting new event where companies such as Deloitte and Towers Watson shall be attending along with many more from the financial industry. There will be guest speakers throughout the day and you will get the opportunity to speak with many accomplished professionals in the industry. If you are interested in finding out in depth about careers in finance or would like to get a unique insight into current economic and market issues, make sure you attend. We hope to see you at all the events. Note, to attend these events you need to be a member of our society. You can sign up on the society fair which is on September the 23rd from 11am to 4pm. If you can’t make that, you can either contact us or sign up at the event before it starts. Membership fees are £5 for a year and £10 for life.
